Journey with us as we trace the development of the Bible as text, tradition and history, starting in the lands of ancient Mesopotamia, Pharaonic Egypt and Iron Age Canaan. From the earliest Old Testament narratives to the Gospels of the early Christians, we shall see how a great corpus of scriptures emerged, and was shaped and re-shaped by successive generations.

NB Our focus is not on theology, and this is absolutely not a bible-reading course. Instead, we will explore how the Bible was translated, collated, treasured, decorated, and sometimes even burned. This is the story of a book over three millennia in the making!
