Half-term report: Catch-up recording update, plus last shout for Hadrian's Wall!
As ever, the first half of term has flashed by in the blink of an eye!*
*[I’m sure that that has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that I spent most of it serially grappling with six video editing packages (count ‘em! SIX!) as I tried to find The One, which would do all that we need, whilst not being so complicated that it was a sledgehammer to crack a nut. On the plus side, I can happily confirm that those who do whole degree courses to get to grips with, inter alia, the all-singing-all-dancing software are not doing what certain parts of the media insist upon calling Mickey Mouse degrees…! Anyway…]
I’m happy to report that the sixth software is, thus far, our Goldilocks software - not too big, not too small, and allows us to do exactly what I need without requiring a lifetime’s experience in video-wrangling. And I think I’ve found a workable way of storing what we need to store for as long as we need it.
Still more importantly, the upshot of this, O Denizens, is that I’m also happy to report, now that I have five weeks of catch-up recording under my belt, that we have worked out a way of being able to record ALL of our online sessions. Yup - that’s right. ALL of them! No need to let me know in advance if you need to catch up, as all sessions’ recordings will be available for 2 weeks from posting.*
*[NB If you know that you won’t be able to catch up within 2 weeks, please get in touch, and I’m sure I’ll be able to work something out.]
My only remaining concern is the possibility that one day I’ll forget to start recording a session. As those of you who have been with us this term will know, the prospect of this gives me regular cold-sweat nightmares. I’ve tried several ways of starting recording automatically, but none has yet worked, so it’s still down to me remembering to hit the button.
I’ve not yet updated our Official Legal Stuff in the light of our now offering recordings, but when I am able to do so, the gist will be: we trust that you won’t do anything cheeky with sharing access to them, and we sincerely hope that you are happy to trust that I shall do my damnedest to ensure that all recordings will be available. In the unlikely event of anything going awry with our being able to offer any recording, we’ll do our utmost to make everything right in whatever way is most appropriate.
Finally, a quick reminder that it’s not too late to book for our imminent Short & Sweet Saturdays course on Hadrian’s Wall, which kicks off tomorrow (4 June).
And in case our now being able to record all sessions makes a difference to what you might fancy for our summer offerings, to see all our courses currently available in calendar order, click here.
And finally (really, this time), watch this space with regard to when our autumn courses are open for booking - coming soon…!
